GARDEN MAKEOVER PLANS

I felt overly daunted about sharing the before pics of my garden before I’d actually started work on it, because it really is the worst bit of the house and the space that needs the most work done!

Well, I’ve officially started Project Garden Makeover, so time to let you know what we’re up to..

Okay, let’s start with the before. Brace yourself.

I told you it was bad right? We’re working with 3 different colour fences, including this weird baby blue, half of which have collapsed in the last couple of months. Grotty pavers, an exposed drain cover, random concrete all over the place and brickwork that has seen better days. God help us.

We meant to do the garden last year, but the summer got away from us, so lockdown has provided that bit of focus to get started.

Take a look at my mini moodboard and sketch.

So we’ve not fully decided on a complete layout of furniture etc, but this is what we’re going to do with the main landscaping.

  1. Replace the fences around the entire garden

  2. Build rendered raised beds and built in bench

  3. Pull up existing patio and relay a new one

  4. Lower exposed drain and set into new patio with same paving style

  5. Create storage and area for a chimnea/firepit/outdoor cooking

  6. Pull up concrete to side of house and relay new flooring/decking

  7. Instal outdoor lighting and an outdoor water source

  8. Paint the external brick to half way up the house

Since we started thinking about the garden, we’ve also considered removing the kitchen window and putting the door there instead as part of the kitchen renovation, but we’ll probably finish the garden before we start on that.

Keep an eye on Instagram stories for how I’m getting on, and I’ll be back to post the finished garden later in the summer!

What do you think of our plans?
