THESE NEW FURNITURE LAUNCHES ARE SETTING THE MOOD FOR MY 2023

Portugal-based furniture brand Domkapa is launching a new collection, which is debuting at Maison et Objet in Paris this month

[This post was created in collaboration with Domkapa]

January is an exciting time for interior design. Not only do we start to look at our homes afresh for the new year and start to plan projects, but there are also some exciting events which help form the direction design is going in. Maison&Objet is one such event, which has its first show of 2023 taking place this year between 19-23 January.

There will be lots of brilliant brands showcasing at this year’s fair, but I wanted to share one in particular with you today. The team at Domkapa have given me a sneaky preview of their new launches ahead of the show, and they’re introducing some great new pieces for 2023 which you’ll be able to find in Hall 6 / Stand H63.

If you’re visiting the fair, definitely seek them out, but for those who aren’t making the pilgrimage over to Paris at the end of the month, this is some of what you’ll be missing out on.

MODERN MODULARS

Once you go modular with your sofa, you don’t go back. I really think modular sofas are just such a practical pick for a home, meaning you can make the most of every last centimetre of space in the way you want to use your home. Domkapa are launching their new Edward sofa, which has 36 different modules so you really can build it how you want it to be.

It can be built out with different size modules, chaises and even storage pieces, and it’s a really minimalist and sleek design with clean lines and a contemporary feel. I’m particularly enjoying the modules with the headrest, which you just know are going to be super comfy, but they look pretty chic, too.

THE ONE-MOVEMENT SOFA BED

Do you ever have those moments where you simply cannot be bothered to pull out your sofa bed? If you have to move cushions and move 100 different moving parts, it can feel like a real hassle. This Beaumont sofa bed is one of my favourites of Domkapa’s new pieces, because it answers this common sofa bed complaint with style.

The sofa bed element is opened in one movement thanks to an innovative system, which means no finding room to stash excess sofa pillows, and an easy job to set up a sofa bed for impromptu guests.

COOL OCCASIONAL SEATING

I’m currently in the market for some bench seating for a new table, so it’s no surprise I’m drawn to both the new Vincent and Henry benches from Domkapa’s new collection. The Vincent is a simple, elegant design with an angled frame, while the Henry is more linear. As a detail, the Henry bench has a small leather cushion which can be adjusted and moved. It means the bench does double duty as a daybed, the perfect spot for a daytime nap.

STORAGE PIECES

Domkapa’s primary focus is practicality, so it’s no surprise that in their new upholstery offering there are plenty of interesting storage ideas. The Avery Pouf, for example, is a stylish design that doubles up as a footstool and storage, which takes on a different character depending on the upholstery you choose, from smooth modern leather to textured textiles that will bring depth to your space.

The Adley Pouf is like a modern take on a traditional storage trunk. Easy to open and maximising storage space, it’s available in two sizes, meaning you can use one as a simple footstool, or more of an ottoman coffee table.

If you’re visiting Maison&Objet and want to see Domkapa’s stand and new season collection for yourself, head to Hall 6, Stand H63.
